Got a Job / Illuminate

Journal Entry: Fri Apr 3, 2009, 4:01 AM
Hey again

Got a Job

Well some things have happened for me lately. Buying my wacom was the best decision i could have made. only about a week later i landed a job with a newly founded entertainment company as a colorist for charakters, weapons, avatars etc. So now i'm part of a production team for the first time. Up to now all the money i made with graphics was through commissions. i must say this new experience is very valuable. We are working on a new borwser game which will hopefully be online around the beginning of june. I'm earning pretty well now seeing i'm a student. So yeah congratulate me bitches :D.

Painting and Stuff

I'm also working on some new space arts. got about two or three in the making that i hope to upload pretty soon. I did some work on one of them yesterday evening for the first time in a while, due to lack of time, but it was a really good feeling and so far i'm happy with the way it's developing. I really need to get back into terragen, or try out vue i believe. havn't been doing so much terraspace lately. but it's on my radar, just nothing there yet. except for one piece i'm working on that i could have uploaded quite some time a go, but i really want to push it to the best it can be. I rendered a landscape in cinema 4d for that, which has quite a different look than the typical terragen or vue, so i hope it's gonna be well received. look out.

I must be missing something, everyone I watch buys a tablet and gets a job weeks later, and here I am still doing crap for nothing :crying: anyway, sounds good. Though I'm dying of jealousy since I need a job right now, and my family is on my case about it daily...Lord, if you have a potential employee out there for me, now couldn't be a better time to send them my way

Seeing Terraspace scenery these days is like spotting a white whale...it's almost non-existent and it would interesting to see more. I personally think Vue has way more capabilities than Terragen, and if terrains are a problem (since Vue ones aren't as good as TG ones I'll admit) you can always export a terragen terrain, use this nifty free program called "Terraconv" to generate a black and white heightmap based off that terrain, and then use it in Vue!

Why is delivering things by car called "shipment" while delivering things by ship called "cargo"?

didnt want to make you jealous :-/. so far i wouldn't know anything, cause the people i work for are all german. do you have a portfolio? it can be very helpfull when you apply somewhere. the best way to find a job these days (maybe a little sad too) is building up a network of people that also work in the field. i got my job, because my friends know what i do and they told their friends. in the past i have done things for free just to get my name out there, like flyers for parties that my school was throwing or something. just having 5000 of them printed and out there helps...

vue is definitely interesting. i havnt done anything in it yet. but im also thinking about buying worldmachine, cause that seems to have great potential for lovely hightmap generation too. anyway im gonna finish my cinmea4d terraspace first, which i think is turning out to be a very interesting scene.
