Down-Under by Baro Down-Under by Baro
You might think there's not much to this image but there is. This took me a long time concidering that the composition is pretty simple. I put a lot of work in the lighting.
It was also difficult to get a resonably interesting background to fit with the planet without overdoing it. I also had the aim to create a good planet texture this time. I think the one from my last work ( [link] ) doesn't have enough detail. So you might call this a back to basics piece of work. Just (nearly) plain boring spaceart. :p
When i got the idea for this i wanted a very close planet that takes up most of the picture. But i also wanted to create an open setting so that the feeling of deep space would come to mind.
This picture is all about how a planet is shown through the influence of light, darkness (deep space) and perspective.

I hope you like it. Comments and :+fav:'s are very appreciated.

Full view is a must.

Nothing wrong with simple. You set out to do what you said in the description and executed it well. I like it a lot.

different textures fiddled together in photoshop plus heavy post processing. :)

This is an exceptionally strong compositional piece with perfect lighting which creates a dense, rich atmosphere. I always prefer the more simple compositions, and this is a great example of one.

thx. well the picture isn't about the starfield. it's all about the planet so i thought a simple starfield was legitimate X-)

Those clouds are so delicate... Are they painted by you or is it a sat pic of earth or what?
Reply
:iconbaro:
Baro Featured By Owner Jun 7, 2006
the clouds are not painted but it's not a picture of earth either. i don't know how many textures there are, but there are many. the clouds are put together out of three or four different lightened and blended layers of the same texture. the texture itself is a satellite picture of earths clouds (just the clouds so it must be some special photograph as there is no texture underneath the clouds...)
